Calvin turned 3 months old last week, and it seems like he changes every day. He keeps getting more active, and of course it seems like he’s constantly growing. He’s started laughing, which is so fun! And he’s REALLY close to rolling over.   For awhile now he’s been pushing off with his legs and arching his back and has come close a few times.  Just today he started rolling himself onto his side and staying there for awhile – we’re just waiting for him to tip over. Since he doesn’t really like being on his tummy, I suspect he won’t be very happy when it happens.

Eric made him an activity gym out of PVC – we’ve got a few different toys to rotate in. He seems to like it! Now that he’s so active and alert he seems to respond well when we give him new things to do, see or play with, although he still takes more interest in a burp cloth than in any of the toys he has.

He’s adjusting well to mom being at work and dad being home, and he takes a bottle with no problems. He sleeps really well when he’s swaddled (we had a new record last week: 7.5 hours in one stretch), but just in the past week he’s started busting out of the formerly Calvin-proof, velcro-fastening swaddlers which means he’s not sleeping nearly as long. We experimented with not swaddling him over the weekend – the first night he woke up every hour and at midnight I gave up and swaddled him. The second night he did 2 stretches of 3.5 hours. Not great, but better. We might try again this weekend, but I’m not quite ready to give up my work-week sleep. Even when he busts out of the swaddle blanket he’ll usually get at least 4 hours in one go. We’ve gotten spoiled!
