Sorry I’ve been such a bad blogger! We’ve been taking tons of video, and I just couldn’t get my act together to edit it down for the blog. I’ve got a few to catch you up, though.
Calvin is 13 months old now, and is still a little climbing monkey. He’s obsessed with “up” – he’s always reaching towards the ceiling, trying to touch things that are above his head. When we pick him up, he’ll frequently try to climb up onto our shoulders or heads to get even higher.
We took him in for his 1-year checkup at the doctor and he was 30 1/4 inches tall (75th percentile) and just shy of 22 pounds (25th percentile). He runs a little lean (relatively speaking, I guess – he’s still got cute little fat rolls) because he’s so active.
He’s very adept at climbing, but is also good now at getting back down; he goes down stairs really well, sometimes forward, sometimes backwards, depending on if he has something to hold onto or not. We took him to Krispy Kreme over the weekend and he spent a good 10 or 15 minutes doing laps around the little donut viewing platform they have for kids (up two stairs, run down the platform, down two stairs, go back to the other end and start over). It’s that baby OCD again…
He still dances to pretty much any music:
He’s very playful and it’s easy to make him laugh. Eric is definitely the #1 fun parent, though:
He’s getting into mimicking what we do, which makes it easier to teach him stuff. My mom taught him “so big” – basically, he puts his hands over his head when you ask him how big he is, and since he can’t yet SAY “so big,” he does his best approximation:
And here he is in a rare mellow moment:
Looks very content, doesn’t he?

Now, here’s a kid being raising correctly. Playing in the background of clip 1 is Led Zeppelin, Song Remains the Same, Dazed and Confused–film version if I’m not mistaken?
Education is so important!
Very cute.

He totally makes me squeal out loud with all that cuteness! I adore him! That little “so big” he does is absolutely adorable, as is his dancing! LOL! 🙂
